This service is provided for members of the Allentown Library District ( residents of Lehigh and Carbon counties).  The service is also available to anyone, regardless of residence, who needs information on Allentown or Lehigh County history.

The Reference Staff is prepared to offer direct answers to short, factual questions.  If your question requires extended research, you will be directed  first to websites that may help resolve your question.  The Reference Staff may also suggest book titles available in the Main Library. 

For archival research our fee is $5.00 for each individual search, which includes the cost of photocopying.  Requests for searches must be specific as to names, dates, etc.  We require a self-addressed stamped envelope, which may be included with payment, before we are able to send any results through the postal service.  Photocopies will be mailed, faxed, or scanned to an e-mail address upon receipt of payment.  A check or money order for the non-refundable fee should be made out to "Allentown Public Library".

This form is not intended to answer homework questions for students.  Students who need help will be directed to websites or books where they can find the answers to homework assignments.
