2008 SUMMER READING CLUB FAQ:
Q: What is the summer reading club?
A: The Summer Reading Club is an incentives-based library program which
gives rewards to kids who check books out of the library and read them at home
over the summer. The more books you read, the more prizes you receive! Children
who do not yet read on their own can join the "read to me" club where they
receive prizes for listening to library books read by a
parent/guardian/sibling/etc. The reading club also includes storytimes, craft
programs, theatre, music, science and lots of other fun activities. Everyone
receives a full calendar of these events upon registering.

Q: When does the Summer Reading Club start?
A: The 2008 reading club begins June 2 and runs through August 15.
Q: Do I have to sign up on June 2?
A: No. You can sign up any time all summer during the library's normal
hours.
Q: What is the kick-off party?
A: With music, art, puppets, and dance, the kick-off party is a fun time to
join the reading club. This year's party is June 12 at 3pm. You do not have to
attend the party to join the reading club, but it is a great way to begin the
fun.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: To sign up, you must have a library card from the Allentown Public
Library. If you do not live in our service area, you can join the club in your
home library. Click here
if you are not sure what your home library is. Children in the independent
reading club should have their own cards; read-to-me club members sign up using
the card of a parent/guardian. Just come into the library with your card and the
children's services staff will sign you up.
Q: Where is the library located?
A: The Allentown Public Library is located at 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown.
There is also a South Branch located at 601 W. Emaus Avenue. Families who live
closer to the South Branch can join there -- we offer the full reading club at
both the branch and the main library.
