
As an Allentown Public Library patron, you have free access to The New York Times! Get started today by following these simple steps to activate your New York Times access:
While at Allentown Public Library:
- Ensure you are using the library’s Wi-Fi connection. Visit nytimes.com using any device.
- Go to the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click on “Log in” to create a free account or log in to your existing account.*
- You now have full access to all news journalism on nytimes.com while logged in at the library.
Note: The New York Times app is not included as part of the onsite experience. You may redeem a code to access The New York Times apps.
*Some accounts may not require user registration.
If you are NOT onsite at our public library location, you can still access The New York Times from anywhere with an access code!
- Go to our library’s dedicated URL: https://www.nytimes.com/subscription/redeem?campaignId=8HFWF&gift_code=c90bccaabb8252ef to redeem an access code.
- Your code will auto-populate. Click “Redeem.”
- You will need to either register for a free account or log in to your existing account.
- After receiving confirmation that your access code is valid, you will have complimentary access to The New York Times and any relevant apps for 24 hours.
- Once your access code expires, you can simply repeat the process from Step 1 to redeem another code.

News-Only Access provides essential reporting and analysis, including:
- News: Engage with expert reporting, including breaking news, culture coverage, and analysis.
- Audio: Enjoy full access to podcasts and audio journalism on NYTimes.com, via the Listen tab on The New York Times app, and on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.
- TimesMachine: Explore a browser-based digital replica of all issues of The New York Times from 1851 to 2002. Education users are able to download up to five PDFs per day, with unlimited browsing.
- The New York Times Article Archive: Access partial and full-text digital versions of articles from 1851 to today, with redirects to TimesMachine where applicable.
- Subscriber-Only Newsletters – An exclusive collection of newsletters, available only to subscribers.
- New York Times inEducation: Curated reading lists around key areas of study, updated weekly, accessible via nytimes.com/edu.
- Gift Articles: Gift up to 10 News articles per month.
- Saved Articles: Save articles by selecting the Save button in the article tools list under the headline. Saved articles are accessible in each registered user’s Reading List.
