A Family Place & Fun Under Four

A Family Place Library is a center for early childhood information, parent education, emergent literacy, socialization and family support. Expanding the traditional role of children’s services, Family Place builds on the knowledge that good health, early learning, parental involvement and supportive communities play a critical role in young children’s growth and development. Components include:

* Collections of books, toys, music and multimedia materials for babies, toddlers, parents and service providers

* A specially designed, welcoming place within the children’s area for families with young children

*Developmentally appropriate programming for very young children and their parents

As part of being a Family Place Library, we offer a multi-week program called Fun Under Four. In this program, children and their caregivers can play with a variety of toys and socialize with other children and adults. Each week, we host a professional from the community who shares information on topics that include nutrition, speech and language, child development, literacy, and music and movement.

The Spring 2026 session runs from April 23 – May 22. We intend to offer the program Friday mornings from 10 – 11 am and possibly Thursday nights from 5 – 6 pm at well, depending on community partner availability.

Registration will open a few weeks before the program starts.

Thank you to our families and community partners who have participated in the past!
