NATIVE FLUTE MEETS PIANO-Award Winning Musicians to Appear at The Allentown Public Library
Date: Saturday, April 29, 2017
Time: 2:00PM – 3:00PM
No ticket is required and admission is free.
Musicians David Rose (Native American flute) and Dan Kennedy (piano) will be performing an engaging and imaginative 1-hour concert at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 29, in the Community Room at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton Street. This will be the duo’s first time playing at the library.
David’s and Dan’s Contemporary Instrumental music unites a combination of traditional elements and original compositions. An amalgam of Classical, Native American, and New Age, their music is soothing and at once wonderfully mysterious. David will employ up to a dozen different flutes during a performance. Dan will happily be chiming in from behind his Roland stage piano.
“I feel our music is based on pure emotions,” states Kennedy. “That’s what composers try to do, to take experiences and feelings, and pour them into the music with the hope that the listener feels the emotional intensity. David and I really want the listener to get something out of the music whether it is peace, happiness, inspiration, serenity or soul-stirring change.”
Spirit Wind Records recording artist and One World Music award winner David Rose, of Mexican and Native American heritage (Choctaw/Cherokee), has been a lifelong musician. He has performed in music festivals across the country, and is fresh off of a win at the 2016 Native American Music Awards for his duo performance. He has also been nominated for an Indian Summer Music Award.
Dan Kennedy’s commitment to Contemporary Instrumental music goes back to the 1980s. Conservatory trained, he got his start playing evenings of original piano music at Oberlin’s Cat-in-the-Cream Coffeehouse. Heard on over 250 radio stations including Spotify, Pandora, and Music Choice, his music has been in rotation on Sirius XM Satellite Radio ever since 2009. His debut EP LANTERN was produced by the legendary Will Ackerman. His latest release BLOOM ROAD (2015) was ZMR’s #44 New Age record of the year.
